Schedule: Monday-Friday (8AM-4:30PM or 8:30AM-5PM)

Key Responsibilities

  • Educate, counsel, and support breastfeeding mothers to establish and maintain lactation.
  • Teach breastfeeding techniques, proper latching, milk storage, and breast pump use.
  • Support working mothers with milk supply management.
  • Lead breastfeeding education classes and community outreach activities.
  • Assess infant oral motor mechanics and recommend interventions as needed.
  • Collaborate with providers and nursing staff to address lactation concerns.
  • Document patient encounters accurately in EMR.
  • Provide referrals and guidance on lactation resources, equipment, and supplies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, or one to two years of related experience/training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current Texas licensure as a Registered Nurse or Registered Dietitian is preferred.
  • Must be IBCLC Lactation Consultant Certified or in process of obtaining certification.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar work environment, with outpatient clinic experience being a plus.
  • Excellent teaching, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of diverse cultural, physical, emotional, and psychological responses to birthing, lactation, and parenting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft programs preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English is highly preferred.
